Using Pelicart is more risky than using the Woolworths app directly. Yet, I think it’s worth accepting that risk, in the same way it's worth accepting the risk of a car accident while driving because the benefit of travelling further and faster than before is so large.
Part of that risk comes from me. The best I can do here is assure you that I have no desire to do anything with your Woolies session other than add and remove the things you want in your cart. Checkout still happens on your account, with your card, in the Woolies app. Your card and your bank account are never linked to Pelicart.
Pelicart is in beta, and if you don't know me yet, it's fair to want a full picture of what's happening with your Woolies session. So I’ve (Claude has) written a security whitepaper that lists what I could theoretically do with that session, what would happen in the unlikely event I were hacked, and what I’m doing to prevent that from happening.
If you like the look of this but are unsure, please book a chat with me! We can talk about my favourite philosopher Kant, why I’m building this. I'm also happy to walk you through select pieces of source code. I’m available 9–5 most days on Google Meet, or in person at Workshop 17, Kloof St, Cape Town.
